Seagrove is a purpose-built centre that offers day care and support to those living with dementia, older people and their carers. During the day, we offer a range of fun and engaging activities for our members, giving carers respite and peace of mind.

We are experts in providing day care to individuals with a diagnosis of dementia, including those diagnosed with young-onset dementia under the age of 65.

Through our work, we aim to provide a warm, friendly, and stimulating environment for our members, helping them to stay well, support their independence, and reduce loneliness.

Based in the northeast of Edinburgh, we are delivered by and operate as part of North Edinburgh Dementia Care (NEDC), a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. (Charity No. SCO24898 / Company No. SC157235)

About us

Our vision, mission & values

Our vision

To provide tailored support to those affected by dementia, as well as older people.

Our mission

To provide life-enriching care to those living with dementia and older people throughout Edinburgh.

Support is delivered primarily at Seagrove, our purpose-built centre. Our staff and volunteers provide compassionate support to those living with dementia, older people and their carers. We ensure our services are tailored to meet our members’ physical, emotional, and practical needs. We offer our members a range of engaging activities and services and work with the local community to forge vital connections and help combat social isolation. We are also mindful of the unique needs of carers and host events and groups to support them as they care for their loved ones.

Our values

Community

We build links with our Service Users, their families and those nearby.

Dignity & Respect

We deliver our services in a way that prioritises the individual needs of our members.

Compassion

We provide valued support to older people, those living with dementia, and their carers.

Our Services

We provide a day care service that operates Monday to Saturday, accommodating up to 29 members each day. After completing the referral process, members can attend the centre weekly, twice weekly, or monthly, depending on their circumstances.

In addition to serving tea, coffee, light snacks and a two-course lunch, we offer our members a wide range of activities designed to promote physical, mental, or emotional health.

Our history

North Edinburgh Dementia Care (NEDC) was established in 1990 with the mission of providing support for local people living with dementia.

Working in this field for over 35 years, we’ve grown and now have our own purpose-built headquarters at the Seagrove Centre, a board of directors, and a team of expert staff and volunteers who provide life-changing support to our local community in Edinburgh.

Our Building

Built in 1990, Seagrove is a day care and community centre based within a peaceful residential setting.

Offering space for up to 29 members each day, the centre has a bright and spacious day room, a cosy lounge, and a conservatory with views of our sensory garden, patio, and outdoor spaces.

We have a fully fitted kitchen, allowing us to provide tea, coffee, light snacks and a two-course lunch to our members each day, and other facilities (including large, disabled-access toilets) designed to ensure that visitors are comfortable and cared for during their time with us.
