Services

At Seagrove, we’re able to offer a range of services that help enrich the lives of those living with dementia, as well as older people. We also work to provide advice and support to carers.

Day Care - Essential Information

Our day care service runs six days a week, from Monday to Saturday. It supports up to 29 members per day and has 174 places available weekly.

The centre is closed on 25th and 26th December, 1st and 2nd January and Easter Monday. We also close for two staff training days a year – written notice is provided for these dates.

Seagrove is open to members from 10am to 3pm. Members who have arranged private transport should aim to be dropped off at the centre at 10am and collected at 2.45pm.

Activities

We provide a rich mix of planned and informal activities, support, and personal care to promote well-being, independence, and quality of life. Each day is structured to stimulate body, mind, and spirit.

Activities include:

  • Gentle exercise and the option to use Wii Fit

  • Arts and crafts

  • Quizzes, games, and reminiscence therapy

  • Cognitive Stimulation Therapy & life story work

  • Pamper sessions, including hair, nail,
    and massage care

  • Therapet visits

  • Cooking, baking, and gardening

  • Relaxation and quiet time

  • Visits from entertainers, musicians, and dancers

We also offer personal care support tailored to individual needs.

Transport, meals, and more

Our day care service includes:

  • Transport to and from Seagrove (for those within our catchment area)

  • A light breakfast on arrival

  • A hot, two-course lunch prepared by our chef

  • Access to additional services, including:

    • A wellbeing clinic

    • An in-house chiropodist

    • An in-house hairdresser

Day trips and special events

We believe variety and fresh experiences are key to well-being. Thanks to generous donations, we regularly organise day trips and special events throughout the year, such as:

  • Visits to the theatre

  • High tea at local hotels

  • Annual dining experience on the Belmond Royal Scotsman train

These outings offer a wonderful change of scene and are always a highlight for our members.

Costs, referrals, and visiting the centre

Information about day care costs and how our referrals process works can be found here.

Potential members are welcome to come and try our day care service for free before committing to a referral. If you would like to discuss a trial session at Seagrove, you can get in touch.

Support for carers

We understand the unique and, at times, complex needs of carers, which is why we host monthly “Time for Carers” meetings.

These sessions are informal, informative, and open to all. They provide a place for carers to share their stories and get support from others in a similar situation. We aim to give carers time to express themselves and recharge their batteries.

Support for carers is also available from Seagrove’s staff outside of the formal meetings and can be arranged by getting in touch or speaking to a member of the team in person.
